Project: matcha bread spread

EN

Last year in Hong Kong I have discovered some awesome spreads for bread! These awesomesaucespreads are 'matcha spreads' and I fell in love. I have made a blog post about it right here also.

Now that I'm no longer in Hong Kong and my matcha bread spread stash is long gone and no supermarket here in Holland sells them, it pretty comes down to me myself and I. That's right I am creating my own matcha spreads from scratch and it is surprisingly utterly easy.

You probably have all the ingredients you need in your kitchen most likely. I just followed a recipe for chocolate paste spread as the base and simply replaced the dark chocolate for matcha! If you likelove matcha, or you have friends who likesloves matcha just make this simple recipe!

Ingredients
¼ cup milk
2 tbsp. matcha powder
110 gr white chocolate
100 gr unsalted butter
2 tbsp. coconut oil
pinch of salt
2 tbsp. sugar (optional as the white chocolate is already sweet enough)
Just a tip but I`d love to recommend you to use clean and sterilez jars for this matcha job: wash the jars and lids with warm water and soap then let it try in a preheated oven of 100C degrees for about 10 min. This will keep your jammed up matcha goodies well for weeks in the fridge!
a matter of combine & melt
then it is just a matter of time before it is all gone
Great on toast, pancakes or straight from the knife and don`t worry I wont stop nor judge you from doing that.
Thanks to the coconut oil adding for smooth spreading and smearing.
The Steps
1. In a saucepan add in the: milk, matcha powder, salt and the optional sugar and combine everything until dissolved over medium heat. Continue stirring until it reaches simmering.
2. Once it reached simmering remove from the heat and add in the chocolate, coconut oil and butter. Use a whisk or a spoon to mix everything together until melted and smooth.
3. Pour this in glass jars with a lid and refrigerate until the mixture sets and thickens. It should take around 30 min or leave it overnight!
